Octavio Paz was born in 1914 in Mexico City. He is a great poet and writer. He's grandfather was one of the first authors who wrote a novel with an expressly Indian theme. Therefore Octavio Paz had a great collection of books of he's grandfather which brought him already with young years in contact with literature. His father was an political journalist who joined the agrarian uprisings led by Emiliano Zapata. He was honored with numerous prices, for example with the Premio Cervantes (1981), the Neustadt internationally Prize for Literature (1982), the peace price of of the German book trade (1984) and the nobel prize for literature (1990). Biography of Octavio Paz1937, Paz traveled to Spain, to participate in the Second International Congress of Anti-Fascist Writers. After he came back to Mexico City he became 1938 one of the founders of the journal "Taller"1943, he raveled to the USA where he became immersed in Anglo-American Modernist poetry. 1945, he started a career as a Mexican diplomatic until he was send to France. In France he wrote his study of Mexican identity, The Labyrinth of Solitude1962 became Paz a Mexican Ambassadors at India. 1968 it laid down the diplomatic career as protest against the massacre of Tlatelolco during the Olympic Games in Mexico.
